It’s time to acknowledge that bodycare is as crucial as skincare. Often, we focus solely on the face, forgetting that the skin below our neck deserves the same comprehensive care and attention.

Decoding Legacy Moisture

Remember: Our barrier is like a brick wall, keeping the good stuff (water and oils) in and the bad stuff (pollution and bacteria) out. Each of the ‘bricks’—which are actually skin cells called corneocytes—contains natural moisturizing factors (NMFs) that help keep the skin hydrated, smooth, and healthy-looking. An NMF is a complex blend of amino acids, urea, various sugars, mineral salts, and organic acids.

Our Legacy Moisture contains a 1% Moisture Complex comprising ingredients with natural sugars and biomimetic moisturizers. These ingredients help restore NMF, retaining moisture and forming a protective film on the skin with high water-holding capacity. With ageing, our skin’s own NMF decreases due to a compromised permeability barrier. Routine exposure to sensitizing ingredients like drying cleansing agents leads to visibly dry, flaky, and less supple skin. Thus, topically applying humectants such as glycerin, hyaluronic acid, sodium PCA, and urea, found in our Legacy Moisture lotion, can help maintain the optimal hydration of the stratum corneum.

The lipidic material in the skin’s surface structure, found between skin cells and described as the ‘mortar’ in the bricks and mortar model, consists of:

 40-50% ceramides

 25% cholesterol

 10-15% fatty acids and other components

We also formulated our Legacy Moisture with 0.5% Barrier Restore Complex, a skin-identical lipid complex. The topical application of multi-ceramides blended with other crucial lipids, including cholesterol and fatty acids, replenishes the natural lipids lost from exposure to various environmental factors, over-exfoliation, and the natural ageing process. Consistent application restores your skin’s barrier and locks in moisture.

Added 5% Shea Butter, oils rich in Omegas 3, 6, and 9, further help prevent transepidermal water loss, which is the passive evaporation of water through the skin and indicates skin barrier health. These ingredients are also rich in emollients, providing additional moisturizing benefits.

In addition to emollients, our Lipid Rich Moisturizing Lotion contains potent antioxidants: Chamomile Extract, Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), and Tocopheryl Acetate. When applied topically, these ingredients help combat free radical damage, soothe the skin, and aid in skin smoothness.

Our Legacy Moisture is non-greasy, with IFRA-certified mild fragrance, suitable for all skin types. It smooths rough skin and supports skin barrier function, improving overall skin hydration.
